Weezer planning 'Blue Album' 30th anniversary tour & reissue for 2024

Weezer‘s 1994 debut album Blue Album turns 30 next year, and Rivers Cuomo says the band has some plans to celebrate, including an expanded reissue and a tour.

“We are going to give it its due respect and come out with a really amazing deluxe package with a bunch of additional material, and of course, we’ve gotta do some kind of epic tour,” Rivers says.

The band’s 2024 UK tour with The Smashing Pumpkins ends in June, and Rivers says “there’s this very suspicious blank space in our calendar for months after that, so I’d keep your eye on that.”

Weezer may not have celebrated the album’s 20th anniversary, but they did give Blue Album a deluxe reissue for its 10th anniversary in 2004, and they played both Blue Album and Pinkerton in full at some 2010 shows.

Meanwhile, The Smashing Pumpkins are also opening Green Day’s 2024 stadium tour which partially celebrates Dookie‘s 30th anniversary. The last time Green Day did a stadium tour, it was with Weezer.
