Even if he’s not on the lineup, it seems like most years Chance the Rapper appears at Lollapalooza — the Chicago native joined Reneé Rapp last year, and Joey Bada$$ brought him out in 2023. This year he’ll play his own set – he’s been announced as a last minute addition to Saturday (8/2), when he’ll play Perry’s Stage at 5:50pm CT. He’s scheduled for a short set (fifteen minutes!) between Dr. Fresch and Levity. See the updated Saturday schedule below.
This announcement comes shortly after Chance revealed that he has a new album coming in just two weeks. TItled Star Line, it’s the follow-up to 2019’s The Big Day and due on August 15. He worked on it with frequent producer DexLvL, and according to a press release it was “shaped by travels to Ghana, Jamaica, and art fairs around the world” and it “blends hip-hop, soul, and experimental sounds with lyrical meditations on identity, resilience, and legacy.” Another regular collaborator of Chance’s, Brandon Breaux, made the cover art, which you can find below, along with the lead single, “Tree,” which features Lil Wayne and Smino. Chance released that earlier in July, but he hasn’t shared the album tracklist yet; stay tuned.
