The Shins: Port of Morrow

5.

Come on. This album is receiving overrated reviews. It's OK. Pitchfork is desperate to have their undeniably great album of the year, and it's not better than Oh, Inverted World. The Shins have that 1 golden hit from the Garden State soundtrack (New Slang), leaving them anonymous enough to be the hippest band on Pitchfork this year, but underground enough to avoid the 'sell-out' curse (unless there's another Zach Braff movie featuring a song from this album). I don't dislike it, there are some good tracks, but this is not a masterpiece by any standards.
