The Wallflowers: Glad All Over

7.2

With the addition of drummer Jack Irons, The Wallflowers have made their best record to date. But it's still a bit underwhelming lyrically and musically. The songs aren't deep, nor are they outstanding pop songs. They are bluesy without the depth or sentiment. A few tracks stand out, but the general vibe is watered down rock and roll. I happen to think Jakob Dylan is better solo. I'm not sure what he's going for with this band, as they fall short of being one of the better bands of their genre. You'd think Bob Dylan's son would be a significant lyricist, but he sings about the typical things in life. There's nothing on this record you haven't heard before, but if you're a fan of Jakob Dylan's voice, perhaps you'll enjoy Glad All Over.
