New Documentary On Syd Barrett & Pink Floyd To Feature Both Roger Waters & David Gilmour

Have You Got It Yet?, the highly anticipated documentary about founding Pink Floyd frontman Syd Barrett, has been completed, according to Deadline. The film explores Barrett’s brief but illustrious career in music as well as his personal battles with mental health issues and features appearances by his former Pink Floyd bandmates Roger Waters, David Gilmour, and Nick Mason.

More than ten years in the making, Have You Got It Yet? tells the story of how Barrett went from founding what would become one of rock’s most iconic bands to being forced to leave the group after only a few years due to concerns about his mental stability and use of psychedelic drugs. It also details his short-lived solo career and the last 30 years of his life, which he spent as a reclusive painter.

The documentary is narrated by actor Jason Isaacs and includes interviews with Barrett’s sister Rosemary Breen, Pink Floyd managers Andrew King and Peter Jenner, Blur’s Graham Coxon, The Who’s Pete Townshend, Andrew VanWyngarden of MGMT, playwright Tom Stoppard, and others.

The project was started by graphic designer and director Storm Thorgerson, who helped create the artwork for Dark Side Of The Moon and other iconic albums, before his death in 2013. It was finished by L.A.-based filmmaker Roddy Bogawa.

“It’s the tragic story of Brian Wilson and Kurt Cobain and many others in music and art, whose explosive creative drives often rest on fragile exuberant energy that gets pressure-cooked from their success,” Bogawa told Deadline.

“The film is not only a portrait of one of the most iconic cult figures in music through the lens and memories of his bandmates, lovers, friends, and musicians, but also a look back at a group of friends growing up in the mid-‘60s and their idealism, ambitions, hopes and dreams during such an amazing cultural moment.”

Have You Got It Yet? features a soundtrack of over 50 songs from Barrett’s discography. The film is named after an unreleased Syd Barrett song.

A release date for Have You Got It Yet? The Story of Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd has not been announced. Stay tuned for updates.
