RTX was kicking ass after the demise of The Royal Trux. I love all their records. Jennifer Herrema must have gotten bored with the band name, or wants to completely disconnect from the RTX banner. Black Bananas show new influences from early Funkadelic to acid punk, but the music isn't as effective as previous RTX releases. The album goes by in a whimper, more than a roar. I wouldn't say this record is bad or great, it just is. We'll see if Herrema sticks with this or attempts to reinvent herself once more.
