On Saturday March 9th at 7pm, join former Broadway star and current Reviver Records Country music sensation Brooke Moriber and friends at the legendary The Bitter End on Bleecker Street in NYC for the second installment of new bi-monthly Songwriters in the Round series “Nashville in New York”. Get tickets on The Bitter End’s website here.
The New York native and current Nashville resident will host and perform at this intimate acoustic storytellers style performance event, also featuring performances by songwriters Ian Flanigan, Toby Lightman and Jon Stone.

Brooke Moriber is a singer/songwriter who has paved an unconventional path for herself in Country music. After getting her start at a young age professionally as a native New Yorker performing on Broadway, Brooke turned to songwriting as a teenager to cope with losing her eyesight to a rare eye disease. When the disease went into remission after a difficult four years, Brooke began traveling to Nashville to tell her own stories, later signing with Nashville’s Reviver Records.
Praised for her “clarion voice” (Associated Press), Moriber’s music has been in rotation on many Music Choice channels and has been featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday Country playlist (“Little Bit of You”, “Down to Nothing”), CMT online and the Music Row Country Breakout radio chart. Recently, the New York City girl performed her hometown anthem “This Town Made Us” on Today in Nashville. Brooke’s self-titled debut album also features “Holy Ground”, a soulful duet with The Voice’s Ian Flanigan, who joins her on March 9th at The Bitter End. Brooke’s latest single Half A Heart is now available as well.

With a New Year and new music on the way, singer/songwriter and guitarist Mark Newman is getting ready to take on 2019! Having recently reached #1 on the Reverbnation Singer/Songwriter Charts for NY, and with tons in store including the release of his latest LP “Empirical Truth”, he’ll his the stage with his band at The Bitter End (147 Bleecker St, New York, NY) on Monday, January 14th at 9:00PM!
A New York native, Mark Newman’s musical prowess has taken him around the world several times over, playing with an eclectic mix of noted musical talents from Sting to Elvis Costello, and Travis Tritt as well as his own solo work. A multi stringsman, Mark has mastered electric/acoustic/lap steel guitar as well as the mandolin and dobro, and with a voice reminiscent of many rock and blues men before him- it has the familiarity of an old friend yet the power and soul of many of today’s rock, soul, folk and R&B icons. For over five years, Newman and fellow songwriter Naomi Margolin have run the “Music From the Hive” Singer/Songwriter Series, and for the past three years- “The Original Music Series” for bands, in an attempt to keep original music alive on Long Island. Newman also records and produces local artists in the Long Island/NYC area and is a member of Sailin' Shoes - A Tribute to Little Feat (covering not just the early years of the band but also each incarnation from the 70’s featuring Lowell George through the 90’s featuring Shawn Murphy) as both a guitarist/slide-guitarist and vocalist.
Although Newman has played a ton of exciting solo and full-band showcases--notably Delbert McClinton at Highline Ballroom just last month and Les Dudek at My Father’s Place at the Roslyn Hotel, The Paramount in Huntington opening for The Doobie Brothers, The Space at Westbury opening for the one and only Don Felder and David Bromberg on separate occasions, The Blue Note in Tokyo, Japan, and NYC’s Legendary Bitter End--he has also worked as sideman to so many soul, blues, and rock greats of our time like John Oates (Hall and Oates), Jim McCarty (The Yardbirds), Willy DeVille (Mink DeVille), Sam The Sham, Bobby Whitlock (Derek and the Dominos) and Sam Moore (Sam & Dave)!
Past releases include 2010’s “Walls of Jericho” filled with intricate guitar work and mixed with a plethora of sounds from hard rock to a lighter more Dylanesque folk tinge, and 2015’s “Brussels” - a live acoustic-driven EP that packs a bluesy punch reminiscent of Clapton’s “Unplugged” album through both the guitar work and raw vocal power. His latest LP “Empirical Truth” is due later this year.
As he marches forward with more solo/full-band gigs on the way as well as the long awaited release of “Empirical Truth” - fans can catch one of his first full live band gigs of the New Year on Monday, January 14th, 9:00PM at The Bitter End!
New York alternative rock band Gnarly Karma just debuted a fresh new album called "Classic Breeze" and play The Bitter End, Saturday - January 23rd.
Gnarly Karma is one of the most interesting bands on the New York City scene right now. They have a unique sound made up of guitar, bass, drums, sax, keyboards, harmonica and vocals. Mike Renert is an emotional singer with a dynamic range, full of classic rock influences and a grungy rasp. He has the lyrical wit of Neil Young, or similar to Adam Duritz on the softer songs, songs about 'love and life' from a storyteller's point of view. The more upbeat acoustic tracks are in the vein of the Dave Matthews Band and O.A.R.. There's always a great groove. There's always a solid pulse. The saxophone gives the music a transcendental vibe and contemporary jazz/rock feel that works with Renert's hypnotic songwriting style. They are an exciting act to catch live and always impress. Top notch musicians.. Check them out at The Bitter End, January 23rd!
"Classic Breeze" is now available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music, and more.
