Circus Mind - Battle of Brooklyn

NYC funk-rock band Circus Mind is gearing up to release their powerful new single, “The Battle of Brooklyn,” a track that draws a bold and compelling line between America’s first Revolutionary War battle and the modern-day struggles of gentrification in the heart of New York.

The song was born from a moment of inspiration. Frontman Mark Rechler was listening to an NPR podcast when he heard mention of the historic 1776 Battle of Brooklyn. Having recently relocated to Greenpoint, the story hit home…literally.

“It struck me that the very ground I was walking on held so much history,” he said. “I started digging into it and suddenly the lyrics just poured out. The song started to write itself—and that’s always the best kind of creative rush.”

Lyrically vivid and musically gritty, “The Battle of Brooklyn” opens with vivid imagery of colonial warfare—reinforcements, flanks, bone boxes, and prison ships—before taking a poignant and timely turn. Here, the narrative pivots from muskets and bayonets to bulldozers and broker fees, turning its lens on the ongoing battle of gentrification.

Musically, the track is quintessential Circus Mind—groovy, driving, and sonically rich with the band’s signature blend of funk, rock, and soul. The release continues their tradition of pairing infectious grooves with thought-provoking lyrics.

“The Battle of Brooklyn” is a timely anthem that merges the past and present of a borough constantly evolving—and a community constantly adapting. For Circus Mind, it’s more than a song, it’s a statement.

The single will be available on all major streaming platforms. For updates and exclusive previews, follow Circus Mind!

VANDERWOLF UNVEILS LATEST SINGLE A TIME TO DIE IN ONGOING RELEASE SERIES

Renowned for his boundary-pushing artistry and ever-evolving sound, Max Vanderwolf continues the Vanderwolf Singles Club on 3/19/2025 with the new track A Time To Die, a song that emerged from a period of intense turbulence—both physically and emotionally—further solidifying his reputation as an artist unafraid to channel raw experience into his work. This latest release marks the second of six singles planned for the first half of 2025, each offering a glimpse into the sonic and thematic landscape of his upcoming full-length album, set to arrive later in the year.

"There was a time in my European life when all my travel was paid for. Living in close proximity to the wonderfully diverse European continental nations, it was easy to pick up a cheap flight and go anywhere. But when you're midair, the plane bouncing around in turbulence, you start questioning your own frivolous motivations. ‘A Time to Die’ was written in Groningen, NL, after a particularly uncomfortable flight to Amsterdam. 'Can it make much sense, tossed in turbulence, with the ones you love so far behind?'"

The single is accompanied by a music video from longtime collaborator Alden Volney. For A Time To Die, Volney created shots inspired by animator Robert Abel's classic commercials from the 1970's, along with beautiful scenes created in one of his signature styles.

Vanderwolf's career has been a kaleidoscope of exploration and reinvention, from his formative years in New York's underground music scene to his impactful time in London and, more recently, Los Angeles.

After making his mark in New York with bands like King of Kings and Naked Sun, Vanderwolf relocated to London, where he led the critically acclaimed band Last Man Standing. Their 2008 debut album earned praise from Mojo and Uncut, with the band performing at major festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading, and Bestival.

During his time in the UK, Vanderwolf launched his solo project, collaborating with legendary musicians like Robert Wyatt and David Allen of Soft Machine. His debut EP When the Fire Grows Cold/Extinction! and album 12 Little Killers showcased his unparalleled versatility, drawing comparisons to David Bowie, The Jam, and Cat Stevens. Relocating to Los Angeles during the pandemic marked a turning point in Vanderwolf’s artistic journey. Vanderwolf's second album The Great Bewilderment chronicling his personal and creative rebirth. Featuring contributions from renowned guitarist Adrian Utley of Portishead, the album was celebrated for its depth and emotional resonance.

The new single features Chris Cordoba's searing guitar synthesizer driving through the track, while Sam Sallon's textured keyboard arrangements add a haunting brilliance. With A Time to Die, Vanderwolf continues to redefine his artistry, blending introspection with innovation.

VANDERWOLF SINGLES CLUB LANDS 2/19/2025 WITH LEAD SINGLE AS THE SUN

Acclaimed songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Max Vanderwolf unveils "As the Sun", the debut track of the Vanderwolf Singles Club series, a collection of monthly releases showcasing his dynamic creativity. Dramatic and earthy, the track sets the stage for what promises to be an evocative musical journey. "As the Sun" will be released worldwide on February 19, 2025.

Written in London, "As the Sun" was recorded with striking simplicity, featuring two dobros and a haunting vocal arrangement.

Vanderwolf partnered with vocalist Victy Silva, wife of producer Chris Wyles, to create the track’s ghostly "choir of voices." Recorded in Wyles’ basement studio in Camberwell, South London, the Delta-blues-inspired track reflects Vanderwolf’s raw and soulful style.

“Most of my songs wrestle with the fleeting nature of life,” Vanderwolf explains. “This one is no exception—it’s an existentialist’s anthem.”

Jeremy Climer, the creative force behind Mountain Climer, unveils “Paper Gowns,” a gripping reflection on life’s final moments. Releasing on February 28th and produced by Paul Mahern (John Mellencamp, The Blake Babies), the track brings together an all-star lineup, including Heidi Lynne Gluck, Shannon Hayden, Devon Ashley, and David England, weaving a rich sonic tapestry of raw emotion and atmospheric instrumentation.

“Paper Gowns” explores the fleeting nature of time and the weight of past choices. In addition to releasing new music, Climer has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support the album Before You Turn Out the Lights, the full-length project that features “Paper Gowns.” Hosted on GiveSendGo, the campaign allows fans to contribute directly to the recording, production, and distribution efforts, helping bring this deeply personal collection of songs to life. Supporters can learn more and donate at GiveSendGo.com/BeforeYouTurnOutTheLights.

Jeremy Climer’s journey spans from small-town Indiana to cities across the country, shaped by his love of punk, alternative rock, and classic songwriting. GIZM0: A ONE-MAN MUSICAL VISIONARY UNVEILS HIS UNIQUE SOUNDSCAPES

Montreal-based producer and composer Gizm0 has been captivating listeners with his evocative blend of melodic deep house and cinematic soundscapes. Self-taught and driven by a passion for music that began with his first synthesizer at 16, Gizm0 combines intricate production with heartfelt storytelling to create immersive auditory experiences.

On his latest mini-album, Invisible Clockworks (released September 22, 2023), Gizm0 offers a hopeful and optimistic exploration of rhythm and melody. Featuring the tracks "Don’t Leave Me Alone," "Waves of Starlight," and "Tear in Your Eye," the project showcases his ability to craft layered compositions that evoke both introspection and wonder.

"The title Invisible Clockworks refers to the unseen mechanisms in nature—the Sun, Moon, and tides—that inspire awe and beauty,” Gizm0 explains. “It’s also a metaphor for the way the elements in my songs work together to capture a listener’s attention and create a connection."

Gizm0’s musical journey began with a passion for experimentation, eventually leading him to master multiple instruments and hone his production skills. Inspired by the likes of Kidnap and Ben Böhmer, he took the leap into creating original music in 2018, producing a series of standout releases that have defined his style.

His 2020 EP, Sleepdiving, was a turning point, inviting listeners into a dreamlike world. "That album was about escaping into a dreamscape during the isolation of the pandemic," Gizm0 recalls. "It was a release of anxiety. Invisible Clockworks, on the other hand, is about finding hope and optimism in the rhythms of life."

All tracks written, recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by Gizm0.

MAVERICK TECHNO-METAL DJ/PRODUCER MARK WISE GOES "ABSOLUTELY F#CKING MENTAL" ON NEW EP SATISFACTION

New Jersey DJ/producer Mark Wise has been making dancefloors come alive since he first got behind the turntables at parties in college, and he began producing after graduation. Informed by his background playing percussion, his lifelong love of rock music, and some unexpected modern influences, Wise eventually discovered that heavy metal guitar riffs and dance grooves don't have to be mutually exclusive.

Today, after steeping himself in the work of the industrial-metal and techno pioneers that came before him, Wise continues to forge his own infectious alloy of the elements he loves. "My music can certainly be aggressive," Wise chuckles, "but it's a FUN kind of aggressive."

Wise is set to go "absolutely fucking mental" with his new EP Satisfaction, which drops on all platforms on November 14th via Teoria Perfekta. (An alternate version of the EP with extended mixes is currently streaming as a Beatport exclusive between now and the official release.)

With the track "Satisfaction," Wise reimagines Benny Benassi's dance classic, arriving at his most seamless blend of metal and techno to date. Wise's muscled-up beat whips us into a frenzied trance, which is punctuated by buzzsaw guitars and tortured screams. Be ready to get your body rocked to exhaustion if you're on the dancefloor when this track engulfs the room like a tidal wave.

Meanwhile, on the original "Dark Angels," Wise collaborates with Danicide, singer/guitarist of the Peruvian industrial band Noisecide, to deliver an even heavier gut punch in the style of dance-infused industrial metal a la KMFDM or the CCN remix of Motorhead's "Ace of Spades."

About the EP, Wise has just one thing to say: "Satisfaction is absolutely fucking mental. Completely, 100% mental — and it's glorious."
