MAVERICK TECHNO-METAL DJ/PRODUCER MARK WISE GOES "ABSOLUTELY F#CKING MENTAL" ON NEW EP SATISFACTION

New Jersey DJ/producer Mark Wise has been making dancefloors come alive since he first got behind the turntables at parties in college, and he began producing after graduation. Informed by his background playing percussion, his lifelong love of rock music, and some unexpected modern influences, Wise eventually discovered that heavy metal guitar riffs and dance grooves don't have to be mutually exclusive.

Today, after steeping himself in the work of the industrial-metal and techno pioneers that came before him, Wise continues to forge his own infectious alloy of the elements he loves. "My music can certainly be aggressive," Wise chuckles, "but it's a FUN kind of aggressive."

Wise is set to go "absolutely fucking mental" with his new EP Satisfaction, which drops on all platforms on November 14th via Teoria Perfekta. (An alternate version of the EP with extended mixes is currently streaming as a Beatport exclusive between now and the official release.)

With the track "Satisfaction," Wise reimagines Benny Benassi's dance classic, arriving at his most seamless blend of metal and techno to date. Wise's muscled-up beat whips us into a frenzied trance, which is punctuated by buzzsaw guitars and tortured screams. Be ready to get your body rocked to exhaustion if you're on the dancefloor when this track engulfs the room like a tidal wave.

Meanwhile, on the original "Dark Angels," Wise collaborates with Danicide, singer/guitarist of the Peruvian industrial band Noisecide, to deliver an even heavier gut punch in the style of dance-infused industrial metal a la KMFDM or the CCN remix of Motorhead's "Ace of Spades."

About the EP, Wise has just one thing to say: "Satisfaction is absolutely fucking mental. Completely, 100% mental — and it's glorious."

Greg Hoy & the Boys Get Back to Riff Rock Roots on Hives/Kinks Inspired “Holy Mother of God” EP, Video, and Tour

After last year's introspective “Yay For Effort” vinyl LP and tour, Greg Hoy and The Boys return to the catchy punk pop sound of their earlier albums. “Holy Mother of God”, which is now available on Bandcamp with a planned release to Spotify and hard hitting music video that’s about to drop, is three and half minutes of guitar riff catchy rock n roll.

The 4 song EP features two amazing guests. In particular, Eddie Spaghetti of The Supersuckers - one of rock n roll's underrated songwriters and icons - took the title of the song, and wrote an entire new story from a different perspective. And as a joke, the band decided to cut a tongue-in-cheek 'upbeat' version, “Holy Mother of Ska”, featuring veteran ska icon Dave Sharma, drummer of the famously cool The Skalars, to play on it.

Jack Rabid from The Big Takeover says “With 'Holy Mother of God', California’s Hoy & The Boys are back to restless rocking — if The Kinks’ 'You Really Got Me' lashed to Nirvana’s “Lithium.”...if Cobain or Chrissie Hynde sang this strong outing, it’d be a smash”.

The trio's tour will hit several regions and have the band sharing the stage on the east coast leg with Richard Reilly of legendary NYC 80s punks Victims.

East Bay, CA-based songwriter Greg Hoy - who's recorded with Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies), Sylvia Massy (Johnny Cash, Tom Petty), and John Vanderslice (Spoon, Nada Surf) - toured incessantly across the US over the past several years supporting his releases “Yay for Effort” and “Cacophony”. Comparisons to Jack White, Tom Petty, and Brittany Howard aside, the veteran songwriter has been a long time critical favorite. Hip-hop icon Ice-T appeared in his music video for 'Can You Take It?' which was nominated for a California Music Video Award. Picked to take part in the Durango Songwriters Showcase for Film & TV, his songs have been heard on networks such as the CW, HBO, and MTV, as well as in commercials for Pinterest, Adobe, and American Express. Time Out NY says “Hoy's music is fueled by straight up melodicism”. Red Red Wine on a Sunday says “Greg's records are deep - like peeling layers off an onion - each song is a revelation!”, Broken 8 says his work “shines with a focused punk rock swagger.”

Punk Mafia Presents: Radio Silence EP on Earth Program/Virgin Music

March 1st, 2024, Punk Mafia presents their Radio Silence EP, the first of a series, to Spotify and all the major services via Earth Program/Virgin Music. Sample the record here.

Inspired by Joy Division, The Ramones, Type O Negative, Ministry & The Deadboys, the recordings were produced by M.O.B. and R-Low, with all instruments/vocals + lyrics created by M.O.B. and mixed/mastered by R-Low.

M.O.B. & R-Low have produced over sixty hit songs with some of the biggest bands and rappers in the world, including artists such as Patrick Stump of Falloutboy, DJ Lethal of Limp Bizkit, Fever 333, 311, Onyx, DMC of Run-DMC and death pop kings ORGY, Chali2Na of Jurassic 5 and DJ Kilmore of Incubus among others.

This initial EP consists of four tracks; entitled “Anarchy”, “Psycho”, “Rebel” and “Rock N’ Roll Disco”, with a stated plan to release an EP every two months.

Focused on turning a negative into a positive, this ambitious project contains twenty six songs recorded over a short period of time by M.O.B. in his apartment located in the very same Franklin Village, Los Angeles building as the infamous “Hillside Strangler'' once resided, with M.O.B. on Guitar, bass, synth, drums/programming vocals and lyrics.

His partner R-Low then flew in from Italy to track vocals, drums and some other overdubs and additional production on the vocals, and quickly flew back to Italy to mix and master the songs. A sign of the times, the two maestro’s have steadily built M.O.B. together remotely across the ocean from LA to Italy and back for ten years strong.

Recently, M.O.B. Left L.A. and is back in NY putting a band together to play the Punk Mafia songs live. "I was giving too much of myself to people who weren't respecting my love, talent, or well-being. When I give my heart, I give it all and I do not tolerate bullshit or f-around. This is real life. Real music. Now isolated away from all the posers and hookers, I feel like I finally got to address my personal mental health struggles. Getting to self-produce the music was really important to me to find the sound that best describes who I am, how I feel and what has happened in my journey of truth in music. I was able to channel my traumas and heartbreak into powerful, artistic, meaningful songs that I truly feel will help others. I am not alone in my feelings. These songs address the current political crisis, Love, Hate, heartbreak and healing, and I think many people will relate.”

These Voices : Lead Single From Upcoming Dead Superstar EP - Rid The Fear

Hard rockers Dead Superstar present the bone crushing new track “These Voices” to Spotify and all the major services. This is the first single from their forthcoming EP entitled “Rid The Fear”, which is set for release later this Spring.

Recorded at JustDefy Studios and Produced by Corey Lowery, best known from the band Seether. The band members Justin Golddat (Guitar), Michael Bohm (Guitar), Charlie O’Neil (Bass) and Jess DeBellis (Keys and Knobs) assembled sounds that intrigue all flavors of the aural dimensions of music. Joining “These Voices” on the EP are additional tunes “Loose Strings”, “Without You”, the two-step “Firewoman”, "The Anthem" & the bonus song "Our Life As We Know It"

Band Founder and vocal virtuoso Terence Keith explains, “In the cover art for the song, the finger in the TV that is pointing at the screaming face symbolizes all these authoritarian voices we deal with on a daily basis that are dictating their poisonous views upon us all. Continually dragging society down with unnecessary turmoil, unreasonable demands and hard core restrictions that weigh heavy on every person's mind and spirit”.

In support of the record, Dead Superstar are gearing up for a slew of 2024 tour dates beginning in March - major announcement coming soon.

The long standing New York based Dead Superstar is a heavy yet melodic rock machine and they’re here on business. The band bunkered in the jam room for the duration of the pandemic and came out with a polished live performance and catalog of crushing new songs. The band led by vocalist Terence Keith have cut their teeth on the road sharing the stage with heavyweights like Buckcherry, Sevendust, Five Finger Death Punch, Alesana and many others.

Minimum Champion Heralds “Better Days Ahead” - Debut EP Out Everywhere

Sometimes, there’s treasure hiding right under our noses. For over a decade, Nicholas Lopardo sat behind the drumkit for various bands on the Long Island hardcore scene. Unbeknownst to both his peers and his audience, however, there was a whole other side to Lopardo that was waiting to emerge.

Now, after many years’ worth of gestation, Lopardo steps out as a singer-songwriter with Better Days Ahead, the new EP by his solo project Minimum Champion. Unsurprisingly, some of the hard-charging, fist-waving punk elements have carried over, but Lopardo mixes them with catchy pop hooks, acoustic folk touches, and shredding guitar solos for a highly rousing blend all his own.

"My musical journey began at the age of 10,” Lopardo explains, “but I was primarily focused on percussion. That all changed at 19, when a relative gifted me an old guitar. I fumbled around on it and taught myself enough to write simple acoustic pieces. Really, it was just a way for me to build confidence in my musical abilities overall. But here I am with finished songs and a backing band where I’m singing and writing the lyrics for the first time. This is the most personal side of me that I’ve ever shown.”

In a time fraught with tension and strife, Better Days Ahead breezes-in like an upbeat whirlwind. That doesn’t mean that Lopardo pulls any punches, though. An astute observer of his surroundings, external relationship dynamics, and his own feelings and memories, Lopardo’s lines can sting as much as they encourage — which makes the songs even more satisfying for the listener.

When Lopardo sings “I may be stupid / but I’m not dumb” over a rolling acoustic-guitar strum on “I’ll See You Down The Road,” it’s just the first of several moments you can’t help but sing along with. Likewise, on the rockin’ leadoff single “Before It Gets Better,” Lopardo sings about feeling like he’s falling out of existence and dangling over a void on the verge of forgetting who he is — all on the way to admitting he’s wrong.

Likewise, with the remorseful “I’m Sorry I Let You Down,” Lopardo and company have crafted what can only be described as an apology anthem with guitar-hero fireworks thrown in for good measure. And “Summer, 2003” captures the feeling of nostalgia for times past in a breathtaking blast of high-energy rock, with Lopardo imploring us to “set fire to the day, melt the twilight and use the embers as currency” — all of which is easier to do with Better Days Ahead as your soundtrack.

Singer/Songwriter Rob Eberle Presents New EP “i can’t say goodbye”

Prolific young Singer/Songwriter/Producer Rob Eberle is proud to present his sophomore ep release, “i can’t say goodbye”, now available on Spotify and all the major music services.

This track is brilliantly made and masterfully composed. It is one of the best singles off Rob Eberle's five song EP of haunting piano requiems and a most impressive and powerful release from the upcoming star composer.

The new single sets an emotional tone for the broken hearted. A beautiful moody love song. The vocals are stunning, the piano chords are chilling and the overall vibe is mysterious and ghostlike. "i can't say goodbye" is a thoughtfully sincere lyrical piece over soft thumping eerie sound effects. Passionate and bluesy, Rob Eberle offers a psychological twist on a love song with his own stylistic personal insight and soulful vocals.

The five song collection is broken up into five different emotions. The feeling of anger shown through the production & lyricism of “wanting more”, the feeling of fear described through “far”, despair through “reckless”, angst through “hope u feel ok” and finally, vulnerability through “there’s not enough time?”

Thomas Priest "Wake Up Call" is a rocker!

This is one of the hottest EP's to drop all year! Thomas Priest is a singer/songwriter from New York with songs you won't forget!

'Pop Rock' is led by young artists today like Thomas Priest. The songs are upbeat, catchy melodies with a smart lyrical charm. The first three songs are full throttle rockers. "Safe Tonight" features awesome chorus harmonies with Lindsay Mac, easily one of the best tracks I've heard all year. "Ignorance" is more experimental and synth-ambient, changing the course of the EP's direction to a more mellow tone. "What Do We Do" is the greatest Noel Gallagher song he wish he wrote! An epic closing ballad to a perfect EP.

"Wake Up Call" is indie rock waiting for the mainstream to drink its morning coffee. This is the jolt we need on the radio today. Priest has a soulful voice, warm in tone and emotionally resonant. His lyrics are very relatable and sincere. Some of the tunes sound like something The Strokes or Stereophonics would do, but more modern and sharper production. There is a fresh in-studio organic vibe, very well-recorded with high level quality and top notch musicians. Keep em coming Thomas!

Thomas Priest is a fast rising music star from East Northport, Long Island. On his 13th birthday, Thomas began jamming on the electric guitar and realized that he had a real passion for music, immersing himself in the art and quickly learning to play the acoustic and bass guitars as well. He began songwriting and playing live a few years later; his first performance being at his High School’s talent show when he was just 15. Over time, Thomas learned he also had a knack for singing and within a year of that first show the now competent and confident Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist began writing and recording his own songs in a studio. After completing two incredible tracks which immediately became the talk of his hometown, Thomas set his sights on making his dream to become a professional nationally touring musician come true.

Earlier this year, Thomas had the pleasure of recording his second EP in Nashville, TN with Rian Dawson of All Time Low as Producer. The fruits of their labor can be heard on this brand new EP entitled "Wake Up Call", which is now available everywhere. Thomas Priest isn't looking back, he’s charging forward. No prayers needed; he’s got the drive, determination and most of all the exceptional talent required to truly succeed. Listen online and decide for yourself. You’ll want to catch him performing LIVE in a city near you very soon!

Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington: High Rise

2.

This is much worse than anyone could have expected. It's five perfectly crafted-as-crap songs that ruin the whole STP legacy and will surely be regretted someday by the Deleo brothers in the future. If this is their attempt at firing back at Scott Weiland, it's a weak one. Not only is it boring, uncreative, completely Art-less and predictable, it's overproduced and musically underwhelming for the Deleo brothers. After listening to this, one can only wonder how much input did they have in the songwriting process with Weiland aside from the big cock-rock riffs of the 90's. Was the 'former' STP truly Scott Weiland's vision? All of the likable ingredients of their previous records are missing. Even the riffs sound put together in a matter of minutes. The whole EP sounds premature, half-baked, and unmemorable. I believe this was made as a reason to tour with Bennington, very quickly, and a complete sell-out move. Looking like they're ahead makes a nice headline to go along with their current tour, but this music will essentially be forgotten in the history of the band, much like Van Halen III is to Van Halen fans. But even Van Halen III wasn't this bad. I'm surprised Dean and Robert Deleo are proud of this. Do they not hear a significant difference in the depth of this new music compared to their classics? Are they just burnt out at this point? Scott Weiland sure as hell dodged a bullet by not being on this record.

Fleetwood Mac: Extended Play

6.

Sorry boys and girls, but this is a major let down for Mac fans. We've waited years for a comeback from them, and it just isn't up to par. Perhaps I am speaking as only the "Rumours" and "Tusk" loving contingent, but this isn't the Fleetwood Mac that I love. I can see a song or two making its way on the radio enough to have a hit single, but I expected much more, especially from a four song EP they could have knocked out in a month. The production is clean, sure, and the first track has a catchy melody, but this sounds like a band past their prime, not much depth to the lyrics and the songs don't go anywhere. After the first chorus of each track, skip to the next. It's that kind of EP. If this is a teaser for a full length to come, I won't be holding my breath. Till then, I'll just keep listening to the classics.
