From Nancy Sinatra to Amy Winehouse to Olivia Rodrigo, there's a long tradition of empowering breakup songs in pop music. With "Party For One," Long Island-via-Brooklyn singer-songwriter Leanne Gallati once again puts her stamp on the form with an unforgettable sense of flair. Where other artists often focus on the despair and longing that can grip us in the aftermath of a relationship, Gallati is having none of it.
A kiss-off anthem for the ages, "Party For One" exudes unwavering confidence as Gallati sings lines In reality / I'm relieved / and suddenly / I'm stress-free. Sometimes, it's best to just cut the rope and realize that we're better off freeing ourselves from under the weight of a relationship that just isn't nourishing us.
"It’s easy to feel scared at the thought of walking away from someone important in your life," Gallati offers. "This song serves as a reminder that you can accomplish anything on your own, and that no one should be able to tell you how to live your life.”
Influenced by the likes of Winehouse, No Doubt, Sammy Rae & the Friends, HAIM, and Lake Street Dive, Gallati's jazz- and funk-inflected take on lost love adds a brassy touch of class to the fine art of walking away. Breaking up never felt so good — or catchy.
That's saying a lot, considering all those great songs that have given newly-single people a boost over the decades. But with "Party For One," Leanne Gallati claims her place at the table in decisive fashion.
Rob Eberle's newest single, "hope u feel ok," delves into the emotional landscape of a breakup from the perspectives of both partners involved. The song explores the aftermath of their split, capturing the intricate mix of sorrow, hope, and lingering affection that often accompanies the end of a meaningful relationship.
"hope u feel ok" stands out for its dual narrative approach, allowing listeners to understand the breakup from both sides. The lyrics convey the male and female protagonists' individual journeys, highlighting their unique emotional responses while also revealing a shared thread of mutual concern and empathy. This balanced storytelling gives the song a depth and relatability that resonates with anyone who has experienced a breakup.
The emotional core of the song lies in its depiction of the nuanced feelings that linger after a relationship ends. Both characters express a blend of regret and hope, each wishing the best for the other despite their separation. This mutual wish for the other's well-being adds a layer of maturity to the narrative, showcasing a sense of enduring care that transcends their breakup. It's a reminder that even when love doesn't last, the bonds and feelings often do, evolving into something different yet still meaningful.
Musically, "hope u feel ok" complements its lyrical themes with a hauntingly beautiful melody that underscores the song's emotional depth. Eberle's vocal performance is both vulnerable and sincere, drawing listeners into the introspective journey of both characters. The instrumentation enhances the poignant atmosphere, making the song a moving and immersive listening experience.
In essence, "hope u feel ok" is a heartfelt exploration of love, loss, and healing. Rob Eberle's ability to convey complex emotions through his music makes this single a powerful addition to his body of work. It speaks to the universal experience of navigating the end of a relationship, offering solace and understanding to those who have faced similar journeys. The song's relatable themes and emotional authenticity ensure it will resonate deeply with listeners, cementing Eberle's reputation as a talented and insightful songwriter.
This is Rob’s third major offering, after the release of the critically acclaimed singles “Half Of You” and “ILYM” which were presented earlier this year and will also be included on the forthcoming “COLLATERAL DAMAGE” EP. Watch the video for “Half Of You” here. Watch the video for “ILYM” here.

There are things that happen in dreams, of course, that none of us would ever feel comfortable sharing in public. Singer/songwriter Ben Sefton doesn’t exactly spill all the details in his latest single “Dark Dreams,” but he bravely stares-down his insecurities and emerges with a mesmerizing new slice of lounge-folk/dark pop genius.
Ben explains, “This is a song I started writing after a bad dream, where all of my deepest insecurities were exposed, my hopes at romance had utterly failed and my perverted longings for certain acquaintances were bizarrely explored (as in every dream I've ever had, I guess).”
While "Dark Dreams” will leave you unsettled (and chuckling) in equal measure, it is perhaps the perfect balance of discomfort and humor to inspire us to take a look at all the foibles we keep hidden from ourselves. It is also an exquisite piece of songcraft with shades of lounge music, vocal jazz and bossa nova — the latest example from a singer/songwriter whose versatility is outpaced only by his smoothness.
After graduating from Selkirk College’s Contemporary Music & Technology Program in 2015, Ben has spent his time crafting and fine tuning his songs. Ben’s budding love of songwriting as a teen quickly developed into an obsession, fueling the creation of 100’s of unreleased songs. Driven by his deep love of earworm pop melodies stemming from such influences as The Beach Boys, Frank Ocean and Andy Shauf as well as a passion for candid lyrical witticism and word play, Ben has effectively created a style all of his own. In March, 2020, Ben released his debut single ‘Humans’ to great reception with the press including CBC Saskatchewan, CBC Winnipeg and numerous music websites in North America, UK, and Europe. The single was included on many pop music playlists including Universal Music owned playlists on Spotify. The video for Humans (created by the artist who did Grimes’ digital Rolling Stones cover) received close to 100,000 views and 100% thumbs up. In addition, Ben was pleased to receive, in 2020, a SK Arts Independent Artist’s recording grant.
Ben’s musical journey has benefitted from the personal instruction and advice of a few key professors and mentors at Selkirk College, a school which boasts such high-profile alumni as Kiesza and Meghan Trainor. Majoring in composition and prompted by his growing curiosity into the inner workings of harmony and song writing, Ben’s musical palate has steadily expanded. With the help of vocal coach Laura Landsberg and backed by hours of focused guitar practice, Ben matches his ceaseless song creation with considerable vocal and instrumental prowess. Drawing on influences of virtuoso guitarists from John Mayer to Django Reinhardt and the rich vocals of Frank Sinatra and Dallas Green, Ben takes joy in constantly refining his skills and looks forward to sharing his vast catalog of songs.
Dan Zalles had an inkling of what his future path was going to look like as far back as middle school. During a woodshop class, his teacher gave him an F grade for constructing a salt shaker without following instructions. Zalles (pronounced ZAL-is) was later surprised to see that the same teacher had displayed the salt shaker as one of the best in the class. He learned a valuable lesson that day about following his instincts…
While it wouldn’t be fair to say that a contrarian streak runs through Zalles’ music, he's most certainly forged his own path. A Bay-Area music veteran who’s played punk, jazz fusion, garage, folk and rock, Zalles has a way of distilling decades’ worth of music into concise, relatable songs. His new album Recalibration combines the outsider individuality of DIY figures like R. Stevie Moore and Bob Pollard with the populist songwriting instincts of, say, Billy Joel, Springsteen and Sting.
Zalles also chafes at the “singer/songwriter” tag. Indeed, on top of his singing and guitar playing, we hear his creative signature on trumpet, drums, bass and keys. And you can see him wear his quirks on full display in the charmingly lo-fi video for “I’m Sorry for Saying I'm Sorry,” the well-mannered anthem the world didn’t know it needed. In fact, Recalibration is a master class in “looking for meaning in ordinary things'' — a line from the deep cut “Lumination High,” which showcases Zalles’ knack for giving his songs a redolent shine of pleasantness when the mood calls for it.

Over the course of the album's 15 songs, Zalles (with help from his son on piano) flows freely between uptempo rock, surf, Americana, moody/atmospheric pop inspired by MTV’s ‘80s heyday, and even Mariachi folk. He also nails ordinary experience with unparalleled wit and grace. On the title track, for example, Zalles positively nails it when he asks “Can your neighbors count the ways / that get you through the day?” From start to finish, Recalibration offers exactly what its title describes — a slice-of-life dose of upliftment dressed up in a hearty variety of styles. It couldn’t come at a better time.
Now based in Utah’s Wasatch Mountains, Zalles has swerved between his concurrent careers as a musician and educator. Aside from his solo work, he has played and/or still plays in the bands British Wire Gauge (whose post-punk/proto-new wave gem “Product City” was featured in the fifth season of TNT's Animal Kingdom), Wayward Monks, The Outer Half, and Slide Dogs. He also gigs with his son regularly.
Prolific young Singer/Songwriter/Producer Rob Eberle is proud to present his sophomore ep release, “i can’t say goodbye”, now available on Spotify and all the major music services.
This track is brilliantly made and masterfully composed. It is one of the best singles off Rob Eberle's five song EP of haunting piano requiems and a most impressive and powerful release from the upcoming star composer.
The new single sets an emotional tone for the broken hearted. A beautiful moody love song. The vocals are stunning, the piano chords are chilling and the overall vibe is mysterious and ghostlike. "i can't say goodbye" is a thoughtfully sincere lyrical piece over soft thumping eerie sound effects. Passionate and bluesy, Rob Eberle offers a psychological twist on a love song with his own stylistic personal insight and soulful vocals.
The five song collection is broken up into five different emotions. The feeling of anger shown through the production & lyricism of “wanting more”, the feeling of fear described through “far”, despair through “reckless”, angst through “hope u feel ok” and finally, vulnerability through “there’s not enough time?”
Emerging Singer/Songwriter Robert Eberle is set to release his new single Novocaine to Spotify and all the major services today Friday April 30th, 2021.
Produced by Donnie Klang, (The winner of MTV’s Making The Band and the producer who has worked with artists like Madison Beer and Sky Katz) Novocaine is Eberle’s second single release this year.
Featuring elements of Lofi-Pop, Alternative & Pop Rock to create a dark, but upbeat vibe, “Novocaine” is ultimately about a relationship falling to pieces. Picture this, you’ve just gotten out of a relationship that was very all over the place all the time. After the breakup, you can’t figure out whether you love or hate the person. You keep going through the memories that you made together and realized that person really just numbed your pain.
Robert Eberle is a young, versatile singer & songwriter. Robert writes all of his own music, lyrics and works with various producers to create unique moments within his songs. Each one of Eberle’s songs are stories and moments into his life and others around him.
Influences from an eclectic group of artists such as FINNEAS & Billie Eilish all the way to Madison Beer and Panic! At the Disco have helped to create Eberle’s genre bending darker-alternative to traditional Pop Rock.
2021 brings new talent to light without wait. Singer/Songwriter Chris St. John just released "I Called You Rose", the first single from his upcoming debut album- "I'm Dreaming". The song is a mix of stylistic flavors including soothing vocal tones reminiscent of James Taylor and Jackson Browne, as well as vintage country rock vibes like troubadours of the 1960's Gene Clark and John Martyn. It's a very tight and perfectly produced single with great harmonies, stellar arrangements and fantastic guitar solos. John's mellow mood and musicality is remarkably fresh and enticing for this brand of songwriting. It is not any sort of replica of previous artists but brings forth a new 'sound' to kickstart the new year. 2020 was all over the place and music listeners are in need of some focused direction.
For those who prefer softer and comforting singers that write lyrics we can all relate to, Chris St. John is here to swiftly provide that. I look forward to the full length which features 13 originals and a cover version of The Grateful Dead's "Ripple". The complete album release is expected in early February 2021.
“I Called You Rose was the last song I wrote for the album”, said St. John “It came fast and I could not get it out of my head. It’s a song about falling in love and breaking up – with alcohol. I like that it’s upbeat and has a happy ending. I pray this song for everyone who finds it hard to put the bottle down.”
Over the last quarter century, Singer/Songwriter (and former Judge) Chris St. John has truly led a diverse and successful professional career in the field of law. Now, his dream of lateral success in the music business is starting to become a reality, with the release of the instantly satisfying first single “I Called You Rose” available this Friday Jan 15th, 2021 on Spotify and all the major music services.
St. John has been a practicing attorney for 26 years; a former judge and prosecutor; worked in the State Department, participating in the Reagan-Gorbachev Summit in 1987; and lived, studied, and taught in China later that year. He was also a Congressional Aide and is now a volunteer firefighter.
In 2015, he and his friend started a not-for-profit charity called HALO Missions, which provides medical care, clothing, food, farming equipment, and surgeries for AIDS orphans and the extreme poor throughout Africa, Central America, and the Caribbean.
“My professional career is what I do. These songs are who I am. They are about my personal life. The songs have been written over about 30 years, with four new ones written in the last several months to finish up the album,” he added.
The topics include the loss of love at a young age; the loss of his parents; the birth of his son John (now 17) and life with his wife of 27 years Elisabeth; a surprise DNA discovery; a serious illness where he was put in a medically induced coma, and a nurse sang him back to life; the loss of a young relative in a car accident and the subsequent climb out of depression; alcohol addiction and recovery; and a gift from his grandmother that he intends to return to her someday.
“The title of the LP is ‘I’m Dreaming’ because some of these songs were dreamed up and written down when I awoke. And there are so many references to dreaming in the album. I guess I like to dream. People have told me I should write a book or make an album. This is both to me.”
The album will and individual songs can be downloaded for purchase from iTunes, Spotify, and all other musical platforms shortly. These first listens are offered as a gift.
During these chaotic and uncertain days, the musicians and artists take to the forefront to deliver messages of hope and optimism. Long Island based singer/songwriter/producer and living legend Teddy Wender released a magnificent new song and video- "Peace Will Come" today! The tune offers lyrics about unity and positive vibes to calm and uplift your mood during these troubled times. What we need more of, are songs like this. A promise of a better future, hope that there will be more harmony and togetherness in the world, and the only way to get there is through love. Love always wins in the end. "Peace Will Come" is now available on Spotify, YouTube, Amazon, Apple Music and all major streaming services.
In six months, our world has irreversibly changed. An invisible virus has ravaged the globe, devastating families and changing the way that humans have behaved since the dawn of time.
Yet despite these isolating and threatening circumstances, millions have come together to remind us that real change comes when we unite during difficult times. The time for peace, safety and equality for ALL people is right now.
“Peace Will Come” is an anthem of love, peace, equality, and hope. The love child of native New Yorkers, Teddy Wender and Neil Rosengarden, co-produced by Chris “The Fourz” Brown. The result of decades of friendship and brotherhood that can only be sustained by empathy, acceptance, and ultimately love.
The song implores us to stand beside our brothers and help them out when they are down, and warns us that unless we show a little kindness, we’re setting up for our demise. An essential and pertinent message for our quickly evolving world.
"With the nation being at such crossroads, with over 200,000 deaths due to the pandemic, resulting in millions of jobs lost, and a dramatic rise in racial injustice not seen since the 60’s, political polarization is at an all-time high, peace, love and understanding is all we need now. It’s time to work together and this song says just that. Please join us to try to make a better world for our kids.” - Ted Wender

Following his last release My Wallet is a House of Cards’ off the 2018 album “Little Boat”, Singer/Songwriter Ajay Mathur has debuted his latest collaborative fan video effort of 2019 - “Time For Deliverance”!
Crafted from the vibrant art and design of director/animator Mertcan Mertbilek from Istanbul (who previously worked on the video for Mathur’s “Little Boat” single), the video is a uniquely visual. Portraying animated paintings from Mathur singing to beautifully enlivened surfers riding waves, palm trees, beach and boardwalk scenes which beautifully counter the bluesy feel of the song and lyrical refrain “It's my time for deliverance no I ain't giving up on love” with vibrant color.
“Time For Deliverance is a beautifully crafted tune. This time Mathur pulls in some R&B and jazz influences, weaving a soulful sax with backing vocals. Both play off his clear and straightforward vocals. The song fulfills the theme of Little Boat, ‘It’s time for my deliverance, I ain’t giving up on love.’ Very nicely done.” - Kath Galasso, Onstage Magazine
“Time For Deliverance is an epic jam laced with some amazingly sweet brass which puts on full display Ajay’s ability to seamlessly switch genres while staying true to his core sound.” -Joshua “J.SMo” Smotherman, Mid Tennessee Music
“Time for Deliverance blends soul and R&B elements into an oozing, sticky tune smoldering with dark sensuality.” - Randall Radic, Blogcritics
Little Boat, Ajay Mathur’s newest album, was launched on its maiden voyage in the usual way in spring of this year. Quickly picked up by playlists and fans, the music and the album’s message of resilience has resonated with listeners and critics alike. Unlike previous projects, though, Little Boat has taken on a life of its own, picking up unexpected passengers along the way.
Independent of each other, diverse digital artists from around the globe including from Istanbul and Warsaw as well as an Argentinean in Los Angeles, heard a call and felt compelled to add some valuable cargo to Little Boat’s journey. The result is a colourful, complex and highly-imaginative work of animated accompaniments to Ajay’s songs.
The first of these, released earlier this year, is a quirky psychedelic and vibrant tribute to the title song ‘Little Boat’, composed by the young Turkish artist Mertcan Mertbilek. The next to be released was a provocative animated video to the stomping blues rocker ‘My Wallet is a House of Cards’. The images were inspired by the rebellious spirit of the song and depict a ruthless caricature of consumption and an increasingly indebted society. This stunning video was created by Argentine artist Ciro Ayala, who lives and works in Los Angeles. More videos are in the works and will hit the waves in the coming months.
Video artists are not the only passengers that have hopped on Little Boat’s journey. Besides the digital treasures, an illustrated children’s book by a writer in Delhi, India as well as a full-length novel weaving through the themes in Little Boat by an American living in Switzerland are in the works.
It is plain to see that Little Boat has left ripples in its wake, touching people at every port along the way. Rarely does an album inspire this kind of organic response and like any true adventure on the open seas, it is impossible to tell which way the winds will blow next. This music has opened up a whole new route on unchartered waters. Batten down the hatches because this Little Boat is on course to explore new and uncharted worlds.
Little Boat, which was given its final touches at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London, is available in digital formats for download and streaming, as well as physical vinyl and compact disc album formats.
