VANDERWOLF UNVEILS LATEST SINGLE A TIME TO DIE IN ONGOING RELEASE SERIES

Renowned for his boundary-pushing artistry and ever-evolving sound, Max Vanderwolf continues the Vanderwolf Singles Club on 3/19/2025 with the new track A Time To Die, a song that emerged from a period of intense turbulence—both physically and emotionally—further solidifying his reputation as an artist unafraid to channel raw experience into his work. This latest release marks the second of six singles planned for the first half of 2025, each offering a glimpse into the sonic and thematic landscape of his upcoming full-length album, set to arrive later in the year.

"There was a time in my European life when all my travel was paid for. Living in close proximity to the wonderfully diverse European continental nations, it was easy to pick up a cheap flight and go anywhere. But when you're midair, the plane bouncing around in turbulence, you start questioning your own frivolous motivations. ‘A Time to Die’ was written in Groningen, NL, after a particularly uncomfortable flight to Amsterdam. 'Can it make much sense, tossed in turbulence, with the ones you love so far behind?'"



The single is accompanied by a music video from longtime collaborator Alden Volney. For A Time To Die, Volney created shots inspired by animator Robert Abel's classic commercials from the 1970's, along with beautiful scenes created in one of his signature styles.

Vanderwolf's career has been a kaleidoscope of exploration and reinvention, from his formative years in New York's underground music scene to his impactful time in London and, more recently, Los Angeles.

After making his mark in New York with bands like King of Kings and Naked Sun, Vanderwolf relocated to London, where he led the critically acclaimed band Last Man Standing. Their 2008 debut album earned praise from Mojo and Uncut, with the band performing at major festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading, and Bestival.

During his time in the UK, Vanderwolf launched his solo project, collaborating with legendary musicians like Robert Wyatt and David Allen of Soft Machine. His debut EP When the Fire Grows Cold/Extinction! and album 12 Little Killers showcased his unparalleled versatility, drawing comparisons to David Bowie, The Jam, and Cat Stevens. Relocating to Los Angeles during the pandemic marked a turning point in Vanderwolf’s artistic journey. Vanderwolf's second album The Great Bewilderment chronicling his personal and creative rebirth. Featuring contributions from renowned guitarist Adrian Utley of Portishead, the album was celebrated for its depth and emotional resonance.

The new single features Chris Cordoba's searing guitar synthesizer driving through the track, while Sam Sallon's textured keyboard arrangements add a haunting brilliance. With A Time to Die, Vanderwolf continues to redefine his artistry, blending introspection with innovation.

Grunge Enthusiasts SAMSARA Set to Release Brand New Single: “how do you say my name?”

Fast-emerging hard rock renegades SAMSARA are set to dominate the northeast region this summer with the release of their new single "how do you say my name?," which just dropped on July 11th. First on Saturday, Apr 6th, Brooke plays as part of the Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival at Commodore Grille located at 2613 West End Ave in Nashville. The 32nd annual Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival is happening from April 2nd - 6th, featuring over four hundred songwriters spanning multiple genres at ten venues across Music City.



On Friday April 12th, she’s at Industry Makers, 344 New York Ave in Huntington, Long Island NY for Maxwell’s LI Bandstand, where she will celebrate the release of “More Love” with support from New York’s My Country 96.1.



Brooke will also appear at Live In The Vineyard Goes Country (LITVGC), happening April 23rd - 25th, 2024 in Napa Valley, CA. Then Saturday May 11th, Brooke Moriber and friends return once again to the legendary The Bitter End on Bleecker Street in NYC for the third installment of new bi-monthly Songwriters in the Round series “Nashville in New York (NINY)”. The New York native and current Nashville resident will host and perform at this intimate acoustic storytellers style performance event, also featuring songwriter Emily Shackelton, Victoria Banks and more. Brooke Moriber is a singer/songwriter and native New Yorker who has paved an unconventional path for herself in Country music. After getting her start at a young age professionally performing on Broadway, Brooke turned to songwriting as a teenager to cope with losing her eyesight to a rare eye disease. When the disease went into remission after a difficult four years, Brooke began traveling to Nashville to tell her own stories. Praised for her “clarion voice” (Associated press), she went on to release her first single “Cry Like A Girl” independently in 2019 and later signed with Nashville’s Reviver Records.

"An American Lie" Single/Video Release - Rory D'Lasnow

It takes a special kind of courage to put any form of rebellion into one's music. There is more than just a melody, but a crucial message from the artist in the forefront of one's song when doing so.

"An American Lie", Rory D’Lasnow's new single, is a powerful diatribe against hypocritical views society holds for its citizens. He attributes the responsibility for false ideals to "abuse of power, and negligence in response - which has been going on for centuries" - Rory says.

He is both an originator and collector of grievances many minorities hold, thus the emergence of activists and artists to chronicle them. From the trailblazer perspective, D'Lasnow delivers the promise of change and optimism for all.

The song has a hopeful beauty to it during these chaotic times. There are traces of American country music, but also the influence of alternative radio indie pop. It starts off rather pretty and kicks in to a more anthemic rock ballad. 'Shut it down and start it over, there's a story still to tell' is exactly what needs to be done regarding acts of racial injustice and systemic racism. We live in a broken society built to work against minorities and communal equality. D'Lasnow sings about this, suggesting we must rebuild the entire organization of how we live day to day.

Rory D’Lasnow has performed at distinguished venues such as The Knitting Factory, The Bowery Electric, Pianos and Rockwood Music Hall, Revolution Music Hall on Long Island, and The Saint and Brighton Bar on the Jersey Shore - as well as numerous festivals, and has been fanatically prolific while in quarantine. He has dedicated all proceeds to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. He is slated to perform at the Atlantic City Beer and Music Festival in 2021. On a side note, D'Lasnow plays guitar upside down and backwards, perhaps leading to his daring homage to Babyface, Buddy Miles, Jimmy Cliff, and Dick Dale.

He is truly an original: fresh, intensified and highly perceptive about what America is all about.

Robert Eberle | Versa the Band | Don Da Menace Release “Enough” in Support of the #BlackLivesMatter Movement (Single & Video)

While watching attentively at the protests that have been filling the streets of America, 15 year old Singer/Songwriter Robert Eberle felt inspired to write a song entitled “Enough”; which aims to affect a positive change in the fight against systemic racism in the United States - and all around the world. He then enlisted friends Ethan Felizzari/Versa the band (whom Robert collaborated with on "Hate Me" in 2019) and CK Records Management Division artist Don Da Menace to create this poignant and memorable tribute to an important cause - the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

"When is it enough?? I am upset by what I see from those who are supposed to be protecting all of us from harm, and by what I hear from the so called leaders of our country about it", Robert said, "The constitution is supposed to provide equality and liberty for everyone, regardless of your race, and that just doesn’t seem to always happen - especially for those in the Black community. It's wrong and it needs to change, now. Young people especially are just fed up and even though a lot of us can't vote - yet - our generation isn't just going to sit by and do nothing".

The Peter Ulrich Collaboration Release Brilliant New Record “Final Reflections”

One of the coolest releases of the year is the new Peter Ulrich Collaboration- "Final Reflections". With a sea-swaying rhythmic vibe and darkened melodic tone, this new collection of songs are most impressive in a variety of ways. The instrumentation is unique, featuring everything from xylophones to strings, songs about pirates and sleepwalking witches. There are notable influences of Nick Cave and Polly Jean Harvey. Ulrich seeks a path to beauty through the darker channels of lyrics and love. Mythical inflections and folklore are conjured up from song to song in the same way a film score is conceived. The compositions are hallucinatory and vivid, like music drunk on moonshine from a classical century.

'Lessons of Love' opens with a delicious lead vocal as sweet as any R.E.M. song. Much like the unplugged era of R.E.M., the instrumentation is very 1960's, something like the classics of The Byrds and The Zombies. The album swiftly moves to a totally different vibe in 'Severely Blessed' which is like the great poets of rock and roll- Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave. It's a character study of a man back from the dead, hovering over polyrhythmic drum patterns. An interesting turn of spirit for Ulrich, an accomplished percussionist himself, formerly of the group- Dead Can Dance. 'Hawk Dreams' is another stand out track, a strong lead vocal, dreamy and eloquent music slithering above slide guitar and Twin Peaks atmospheric ambience. 

In the midst of the album, one gets the feeling of a loner, a world traveler singing autobiographical songs about life and loss. There is a beautiful sadness in the lyrics like Tom Waits crooning under the moonlight sky. 'Nightwalker and Love Witch' is filled with an assortment of percussive shakers, marching snare drums and exquisite string arrangements. This is one of my favorite songs off the LP. With repeated listens, one continuously discovers new sounds and colors from this mammoth palette of instruments used for this record. 

For the casual listener, blog critic or skilled musician, this album is a remarkable artistic achievement, far and beyond any previous release of the year. I can only wonder what new ground, new sonic territory Peter Ulrich will explore in the future. Brilliant to say the least, my ears are glued to this project with excitement I haven't felt in a long time.



The Peter Ulrich Collaboration is a collaboration helmed by Peter Ulrich, former percussionist for the iconic Dead Can Dance, the brilliantly innovative band that music historian Ian McFarlane described as world music that "constructed soundscapes of mesmerizing grandeur and solemn beauty... with African polyrhythms, Gaelic folk, Gregorian chants, Middle-Eastern mantras and art-rock". Ulrich met Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard, the founders and cornerstones of Dead Can Dance, in London in 1982 and joined the band on drums and percussion. After leaving DCD and after releasing a string of critically acclaimed releases as a solo artist, Peter's next big step was The Peter Ulrich Collaboration.

The Collaboration is the brainchild of Ulrich and Trebor “Big T” Lloyd of City Canyons Productions as producer and a principal collaborator. The Collaboration mixes folk rock, world rock, art rock and psychedelic music with a world view that encompasses alternative history, fictional universes, Steampunk, and Goth, and recalls the exquisitely crafted soundscapes of Dead Can Dance. The group features songwriting by Ulrich, Lloyd, and New York songwriters Anne Husick, Sara Wendt and Kathy Sheppard among others with vocals by David Steele, Wendt, Ulrich, Jen Elliott, Shane Chapman, Stephanie Linn, Timothy Dark and other bright American and English talents. The vocalists are backed by a crackerjack band playing rock, post-rock, world and folk influenced music.

A Brilliant Future for Joe Coss & Liquid Phase with Remastered “Bright Colors” Single Release

From 2005 to 2013, Joe Coss - singer/songwriter/guitarist for the Long Island based band Liquid Phase spent his days traveling from Long Island to downtown New York City to work as the Lead Mechanical Engineer on the new World Trade Center. His journey is chronicled in the band’s song “Bright Colors”, now available as a remastered single on Spotify and all the major services.

“Bright Colors” is an infectiously upbeat song which brings to light Coss’s love for both the city whose most triumphant landmark he’s had the privilege of erecting to the oceanside oasis that is Montauk, NY. This comes to light in the songs lyrics “See a row of purple roses live on the oceanfront. And the cliffs of Earth eroding slower than we have fun. When I climbed up the iron ladder the sky was the bluest one. Looking out as our friends were leaving just as the keg was done” and coming full-circle with “Look West as the sun sets, castle stands in our way. Out East there's an orange moonrise, radar's aimed our way”.

The song - coupled with Coss’s diverse background (from his days as a Berklee College of Music student to his work in theoretical physics) and his relationship with legendary Singer/Songwriter Paul Simon and wife Edie Brickell - have made for an incredibly unique blend of infectious rock and pop. The band was invited by Brickell to rehearse in Simon’s home studio in Montauk while Joe also worked on Guitar Lead's and Charts with Edie before receiving a prized gift - Edie's custom Orange Electric Tom Anderson Guitar. Joe will be playing Acoustic Guitar this Fall 2019 mainly in Rockville Centre, Malverne, Lynbrook and Port Jefferson at Chadwick’s, Connolly’s, and Pearsall’s.

Liquid Phase, the NYC Rock Band from Montauk, is a five piece rock outfit featuring Coss on Vocals and Guitar, Jamie Grubb on Keyboards, Dan Zellan on Guitar and Vocals, Johnny Molinari on Bass, and Steve Collins on Drums. The band brought its diverse blend of colorful laid-back surf and skate beach music as well as its hard hitting electric rock and alternative sound to stages across the U.S., opening for guitar legend Slash of Guns n’ Roses and famed Southern Rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Greg Hoy & The Boys Release “Brilliant Jerk” Single/Video, Mini EP and Continue Cross Country Tour in Support of New Music

Over the course of his career, Greg Hoy has released over thirty albums under various monikers such as The Royal Panics, Greg Hoy & The Boys, and Twice As Bright. Hoy has worked with a number of artists in various capacities including recording with The Last Town Chorus, performing at the base of the World Trade Center with Glenn Branca, and engineering bands with Steve Albini and J. Robbins.

Greg Hoy & The Boys are multitasking while touring the country in a ‘73 Airstream, filming a documentary about their travels, and traveling to new markets up and down the east coast October through December of 2019.

This October, the northeast leg of their tour has them supporting their double LP, a self-titled release as well as a new tour mini-album "Enjoy The View" recorded by Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies) and remixed by Sylvia Massy (Rick Rubin, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash).

Sammi Rae Murciano & Los Vegas Release Second Single “Baby Baila”

After the success of their debut song “Escapate”, the emerging reggaeton superstars Sammi Rae & Los Vegas are at it again; this time with a dance track that would make even the shyest wallflower move and shake to the beat - entitled “Baby Baila”, available right now on all the major services.

Sammi Rae has been getting heavy praise from audiences nationwide for her strong and soulful voice. Concurrently, Los Vegas has been turning heads with his enigmatic persona on stage and the magnetic vibe to his flow. Together they form a dynamic duo to be reckoned with.

Thomas Priest is a fast rising music star from East Northport, Long Island. On his 13th birthday, Thomas began jamming on the electric guitar and realized that he had a real passion for music, immersing himself in the art and quickly learning to play the acoustic and bass guitars as well. He began songwriting and playing live a few years later; his first performance being at his High School’s talent show when he was just 15. The Chris Ruben Band release New Single "Stomach Coil"

With a sound that combines everything from psychedelic rock to funk streamlined into a raucous yet melodically appealing full package, the Farmingville-based Chris Ruben Band is ready to deliver more music to the masses. With their debut EP “Fortune Favors the Bold” having come out in March, the band has been hard at work on their follow up, and just released their new single “Stomach Coil” as they rock The Lounge @ The Space at Westbury in New York.

After 5 plus years of working solo, songwriter and musician Chris Ruben founded the first of many groups in late 2014. With many twists and turns befalling him, the band has seen many faces come and go. Now they are family. Following the release of 2015’s “Someone Like You”, Blues Rock and Americana Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter Albert Cummings is back with a brand new Live CD/DVD/Blu-ray collection out now! Recorded at a recent performance in his hometown of Williamstown, MA the aptly titled “Albert Cummings Live at the ’62 Center” features the widely respected bluesman and his band performing their hits past and present.

Albert Cummings has always loved being spontaneous when it comes to his music, and this creative spirit certainly came to the forefront during the recording of his most recent Live Album/DVD/Blu-ray collection. Putting together a newly formed version of his usual trio that afternoon of the October, 2016 recording- Cummings added keyboards and background singers for what would be their very first performance together.

With the crowd’s anticipation building, the lights came on and the band found their groove on song after song following the star effortlessly as if they had played together for years. With longtime friend and Grammy Winner Jim Gaines behind the soundboard, what comes through in both sight and sound is an incredible journey into the live performance world and artistry of one of today’s most seasoned blues musicians.

Casinova: What I Need (single)

Young talent is a dime a dozen these days, with all the burgeoning artists trying to score a record deal with the majors, but a young talent that stands out always comes forth with obvious intentions for more than success and shines brighter than the rest of the competition. Critics, record heads, A & R people and the common radio listener can usually spot the few with that 'special' gift. Casinova, born and raised in Miami, Florida but now involved in the New York City scene, gaining a buzz off his recent single "What I Need" is more ambitious than most, aiming to greater forms of success. From legendary artists like Michael Jackson to modern stars like Chris Brown, Casinova's music is somewhere in between. His music is current with the vibe of an experienced singer whether he's new to the scene or not. "What I Need" is a slick, smooth R & B song with one of the catchiest hooks I've heard in years. Anyone that hears this track in a club or on the radio will take an instant liking to it. Not only is it a well crafted Pop song, but highlights Casinova's vocal abilities most impressively. I love the exemption of auto-tune, which typically would be used in this style of music, but I don't think he needs it. His vocals are naturally pleasing to the ear, much like the icons of soul. This is something we need more of in modern Pop music. The genre has fallen to gimmicks and overcooked effects, when it should focus on the artist himself. In Casinova's bio, it quotes Bruce Lee- "Don't fear failure. Not failure, but low aim, is the crime. In great attempts it is glorious even to fail."  I think that pretty much sums up where his career is going. When you're in that mindset and the music is as fresh as this, you're bound to make your mark and achieve your goals. The only thing to do now, is continue giving us great tunes and see where the chips fall. Something tells me, this kid is going farther than even he may know.
